There are 14 different pieces in this series. They were done in two different sizes. There are six works that are 4 in. x 4 in and eight that are 7 in. x 9 in followed. Several of the first group are in the collection of Daphne Farago. Ms. Farago has gifted her collection to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
My work has always been diminutive in scale. I am particularly interested in the possibilities of the small artistic expression. In my pieces I probe the potential of intimacy and nuance.
From 1984 until 2004 I worked exclusively with fiber. In 2005 I changed medium and began working on paper with watercolor.
These fiber works are stitched with fine silk threads on silk cloth. At times other elements such as pine cone needles or small pieces of broom bristles are included in the work. The cloth is stretched on stretchers and finished pieces are matted and framed.
